The NS, or Name Server records of a domain name, indicate which servers handle the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a specific host company for your domain name is the easiest way to direct it to their system and all its sub-records are going to be taken care of on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), and so on, so if you want to modify any of these records, you are going to be able to do it through their system. In other words, the NS records of a domain show the DNS servers which are authoritative for it, so when you attempt to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to get the DNS records of the domain you are attempting to access. In this way the website that you're going to see is going to be retrieved from the right location. The name servers normally have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each domain name has at least 2 NS records. There's no functional difference between the two prefixes, so which one a website hosting provider will use depends completely on their preference.

NS Records in Hosting

The innovative Hepsia CP, included with with our hosting plans, will allow you to handle the name servers of every single domain registered through our company with only a few clicks, so even though you may haven't had a hosting plan or a domain before, you will not encounter any problems. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, features a very user-friendly interface and it will allow you to modify the NS records of any domain or even a number of domains simultaneously. In addition we offer you the opportunity to set up child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for every domain registered within the account just as easily and all you need for that is a couple of IP addresses - either ours, if you'll use the child NS to forward the domain name to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party company if you will use the new records to forward the domain address to their system. Unlike other providers, we don't charge extra for providing this additional DNS management service.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our semi-dedicated server accounts are handled using Hepsia - an all-in-one tool with very user-friendly interface, that will enable you to control your domains without difficulty even if you haven't used a web hosting account or a domain name in the past. You're also going to be able to register child name servers under any of your domain names as an element of the free DNS management services we offer with each and every plan and have ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com. The latter can be used for every domain which you accommodate within the semi-dedicated account, so if you provide services to third-parties and host their sites, using this feature is going to give you a lot more credibility as a business.
