DomainKeys Identified Mail, or DKIM, is a system for confirming the legitimacy of an email by using an e-signature. When DomainKeys Identified Mail is enabled for a specific domain name, a public key is published to the global Domain Name System and a private one is kept on the mail server. When a new email is sent, a signature is issued using the private key and when the email message is delivered, that signature is verified by the POP3/IMAP mail server using the public key. In this way, the receiver can easily discern if the email message is legitimate or if the sender’s address has been spoofed. A discrepancy will appear if the content of the email has been modified in the meantime as well, so DKIM can also be used to ensure that the sent and the delivered emails are identical and that nothing has been attached or removed. This validation system will strengthen your email security, since you can verify the legitimacy of the important email messages that you get and your colleagues can do likewise with the messages that you send them. Based on the particular email service provider’s adopted policies, a message that fails to pass the test may be deleted or may end up in the receiver’s inbox with a warning alert.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail feature is pre-activated for all domain names that are hosted in a hosting account on our cloud servers, so you will not have to do anything yourself to enable it. The only requirement is that the given domain name should be hosted in a hosting account on our platform using our MX and NS resource records, so that the email messages will go through our email servers. The private cryptographic key will be created on the server and the TXT record, which includes the public key, will be published to the global DNS system automatically, so you won’t need to do anything manually on your end in order to enable this option. The DomainKeys Identified Mail validation system will permit you to send trustworthy email messages, so if you’re sending a newsletter or offers to clients, for example, your email messages will always reach their target destination, whereas unsolicited third parties won’t be able to spoof your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail protection service is offered by default with any domain name that is registered through a semi-dedicated server account with us. It should also use our name servers, so that its DNS records are managed by our platform. The latter makes it possible for a special TXT resource record to be set up, which is actually the public encryption key that verifies if a particular email message is authentic or not. This record is created the moment a brand-new domain is added to a semi-dedicated account via the Hepsia Control Panel and in the meantime, a private key is created on our email servers. If you use our email and web hosting services, your email messages will always reach their target readers and you won’t need to worry about unsolicited parties forging your email addresses for spamming or scamming purposes, which is something pretty important when you use email messages to reach your business associates.
